1. Ability Cup
The Ability Cup is scheduled for Saturday, June 27. This event is a fundraiser for the NWT Council of Persons with Disabilities and includes both a speed race and a money race - the boat that raises the most money wins the cup.
I'm attaching the following documents:
Pledge Form - the form needed to keep track of all the money you're raising for the NWT Council of Persons with Disabilities
Info - answers to (hopefully!) everything you might want to know about the event
Poster - a copy of this year's poster - designed for 11 x 17 paper but it might print okay on letter sized paper too. If you want to have some 11 x 17 posters to display anywhere, please let us know.
Brochure - background information about the NWT Council of Persons with Disabilities
If you have any questions, please let me know.
2. Membership fees
Annual membership fees are due at the time of lift in, whether your boat is lifted in or on a trailer. The standard membership fee is $300/boat per year. If you were not at lift-in on June 13 or if you missed paying your annual membership fee, please do so as soon as possible. For this and for information about other membership options such as affiliate memberships, contact Purser Terry Brookes email at "terryb @ theedge.ca" (no spaces).
3. Member survey
In order to focus our attention - and funds - on the areas that matter most to our membership, we need to know what those areas are. We have created a member survey to get your input. You can respond in one of several ways:
- Click this link and complete the survey online in minutes:
Survey
- Complete the survey at the clubhouse (blank copies have been left on site) and leave your survey in the cardboard box in the clubhouse. I will be emptying the box periodically.
- Complete the attached form ("GSCC Membership Survey.doc") and return it by email or fax (873-8197 - Jan's work fax).
The more people who answer, the better we can serve you. Once we have sufficient replies, I will summarize the responses and send the summary to the membership (no personally-identifying information will be distributed).

We are moving to Quebec and can't take her with us. We brought this boat up in 2004. Since then we boat new genoa, new main, new VHF, alcohol stove, barbeque, swim ladder, cockpit railing, compass, batteries, sail cover, dodger, cockpit cushions. It has a 7hp gas inboard that works great. This is a great East Arm cruiser! Asking $15,000. Call Darren or Marie-Claude at 873-2005 or email darren@theedge.ca.
This boat has a shoal keel that allows you to sail the inside passage and get into shallow anchorages. It is on a newer trailer that was built for it. Put in and take out when you please. It also comes with mooring if the ice didn't take it.

The Annual General Meeting of the GSCC is on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 2pm - location TBA.
I've attached the Agenda.
On the Agenda is a proposal to amend the Club's by-laws. I have attached two documents for your consideration - the current By-Laws, and the By-Laws with the proposed amendments incorporated. Both are brief documents, promise.
If there are members living outside of Yellowknife that would like to attend the AGM via speakerphone, please let me know and I can make the necessary arrangements.
Please also mark your calendars for lift-in on Saturday June 6 (Alternate is Sunday, June 7th, should the winds not cooperate).
Prior to the AGM, I hope to have the season's race schedule to you. In the meantime, please e-mail me with any questions you have.
I look forward to seeing you there. Please consider attending and becoming part of the Board for the upcoming year.
